Directories to Web Sites & Reviews

Directories provide guides and links to websites.  They can be general with subject subdivisions like Google Directory or specific to a discipline like Adam for art.  If you don't know exactly what website you want directories can be a useful first step to identifying what is available.

Developed by several U.S. university libraries, to provide  information on over 40,000 sites. Reviews can be searched or browsed by subject.

Intute Best of the Web
Developed by several UK universities to evaluate web sites in a wide variety of subjects including art.

Librarians' Internet Index
Brief reviews of over 11,000 websites are provided by public and academic libraries.

Internet Scout Report
A weekly e-zine that provides information on websites and their authors. Archives can be  searched by keyword. Produced by the Univ. of Wisconsi.
