OntarioArtist.CA
The Visual Arts Section "contains links to organizations that are providing information and services for artists working in the visual arts, crafts, and design."

Visual Arts Ontario (VAO)
Visual Arts Ontario is a not-for-profit organization that supports artists at all career levels. It also provides support to, arts organizations and the "art-interested public." VAO offers a wide array of programs and services to it’s members including workshops, self-help guides, and on-line training. "Programs cover such topics as portfolio presentation, exhibition management, marketing strategies, and business skills for the small business operator."

CARFAC Ontario
This association of professional visual and media practitioners works on the legal and economic issues facing visual artists.  The goal of CARFAC Ontario is "to develop policies, publications and services that assist artists, galleries, curators, art patrons, and other stakeholders in creating an economic climate that benefits all visual artists."

Funding

The Canada Council for the Arts - Visual Arts Discipline
"The Visual Arts Section provides creation, production and dissemination support in the fields of architecture, crafts, photography and the visual arts, as well as for the acquisition of works by Canadian artists. In addition to funding the activities of independent artists, museums, artist-run centres and other professional arts organizations, the Council encourages the work of independent critics and curators, and the work of performance artists whose practice is rooted in the critical discourse of the visual arts."

Ontario Arts Council (OAC)
The mission of OAC is  "to foster the creation and production of art for the benefit of all Ontarians." OAC  manages the selection process for several awards, scholarships, grants and prizes.

Health & Safety

Health & Safety in the Arts
Provides searchable databases for health hazards of a wide variety of art mediums and for studio safety practices. Also includes lists of suggested readings and links to related sites. From Tucson Arizona.

Artists' Health Centre Foundation
"Our mandate is to raise the standard of health care, educational resources, and quality of life for artists, and to take those resources out into the community, both locally and nationally." Links to The Al and Malka Green Artists' Health Centre, a facility in the Family and Community Medicine Program at the Toronto Western Hospital; education and research resources.

Staying Alive! Health and Safety Resources (CARFAC Ontario)
A result of the Health & Safety Workshop for Visual and Media Artists 2006-2007. Provides links to useful websites including two downloadable documents on health and safety for artists by CARFAC: Health Hazards & Safety Tips for Artists and Warehouse Studio Health & Safety

deviantART
The goal of deviantArt is to provide a place artists to show and discuss works.  Works are categorized by type such as photography, digital art, traditional art, literature and film making.  Also offers a broad range of downloadable resources such as tutorials and stock photography.

MyArtspace
MyArtspace is a dynamic community with contests, scholarships, messaging, blogs and an extensive interview series with emerging and established visual artists . Allows artists to create an unlimited number of galleries to display their work for free.  Senior editor is Brian Sherwin, American writer, critic, blogger and advocate for emerging artists.

WetCanvas
"The largest community for visual artists on the Internet!"
WetCanvas offers to  "assist visual artists in sharing information and making new contacts and friends." A grass roots information site and forum that is  "a veritable gold mine of information, serving painters, sculptors, illustrators, and other artists." The site is very big, currently delivering more than 3 million web pages each month.
